Becoming a New External User of the MNF:
Here is an outline of the procedure to follow to become a user of the MNF. Parts 1-4 can be done remotely. The remaining part of the orientation has to be done at the MNF and start weekly on Tuesday mornings.
- Contact Sandrine Martin (2236 EECS, 734-763-6719 or sandrine@eecs.umich.edu) to discuss your research project and processing plans.
- Write a 1 page description of your process and a 1 page description of your overall project.
- Complete the MNF Access Form (2 pages).
- Complete safety training.
- Coordinate your schedule with Sandrine Martin to complete the rest of the access procedure (usually starting on Tuesday).

- Write a 1 page project description. Also prepare a 1 page description of the process that you intend to conduct in the SSEL. This summary should allow us to determine if the materials you will be using are compatible with other research being conducted in the SSEL and to schedule appropriate training.
- Include a step-by-step process flow (with a cross section diagram) and all chemicals, materials and tools that you plan to use.
- If your research deters in any significant way from this description, you will need to gain approval for the changes.
- The MNF Access Form is a checklist of things you need to do and signatures you need to obtain and can be filled electronically.

- Complete page 1 and the User Information section on page 2.
- A staff member will be assigned to you as mentor.
- Complete safety training
- Safety training offered online by the Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH) department for MNF users. You can view the presentation file
and print the test
